Combine sugar, brown sugar, and butter in a sauce pan and melt over low heat stirring occasionally. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter mixture with softened vanilla ice cream and mix on medium speed with an electric hand mixer. Blend until smooth. This batter makes 16 servings and will last for 2 weeks in the refrigerator or 1 month in the freezer.

To make drink: pour 1/4 cup of batter into a mug. Add one shot of spiced rum (Castillo Spiced Rum works especially well with this drink). Add 3/4 cup boiling water to mug and stir well. Garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg (ground cinnamon or a whole cinnamon stick may be used as well).
